Lexapro 5mg (Escitalopram 5 mg) is an antidepressant medication that is used to treat major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. This tablet belongs to the group of drugs called SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). Lexapro 5 mg pill is the brand name for generic Escitalopram.

Lexapro is used as an off-label medication for the treatment of OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder), SAD (Social anxiety disorder), PD (panic disorder), PTSD (Posttraumatic stress disorder), PDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder), and Vasomotor symptoms of menopause.

For the treatment of major depressive disorder, the initial treatment for adolescents started with a dose of 10 mg once a day. In case, an increment is required, then the dose can be increased to 20 mg a day after three weeks. For adults, the dosage can be 10 mg to 20 mg as per the patient’s requirement.
